CollieBall – The Ultimate Herding Ball for Large Active Dogs
ORIGINAL DESIGN FROM SAN FRANCISCO — NOW IN AUSTRALIA
Designed for Large, Energetic Breeds:
The 75 cm CollieBall is built for dogs roughly 51–62 cm at the shoulder and 23–34 kg — an excellent choice for Australian Shepherds, Kelpies, Staffies and other similarly sized breeds. It offers the mental and physical stimulation big, active dogs need to thrive.
Unmatched Durability and Functionality:
CollieBall is built to withstand rough play and deliver long-lasting fun.
Two-Layer Construction:
- Inner Layer: The high-performance needle valve inner ball is durable and delivers excellent bounce while retaining air longer than traditional options.
- Outer Layer: Made from rugged Denier ballistic fabric, providing extra protection and durability for energetic play.
Best-in-Class Needle Valve Inner Ball:
Our needle valve inner ball is engineered for exceptional air retention, lasting much longer between inflations. While it takes more time to inflate, the reliability makes it worthwhile. For quick inflation, we recommend using an air compressor.
Reinforced Features for Bigger Dogs:
- Heavy-duty double-stitched seams using durable nylon thread for enhanced strength.
- A secure, heavy-duty zipper with a detachable puller to ensure safety and prevent dogs from accessing loose parts.

Why 75 cm CollieBall for Australian Shepherds & Large Herders?
Australian Shepherds are bigger than people think. A standard male Aussie can stand 58 cm at the withers and weigh 29 kg — closer to a Border Collie's larger cousin than a medium dog. They were bred to work all day on Western US ranches, and that endurance carries straight into the suburban backyard. Without a real outlet, an Aussie's intelligence and energy turn inward — destructive chewing, anxiety, fence-running, obsessive behaviours.
The 75 cm (30") CollieBall is the size match for full-grown Aussies, working Kelpies, and other medium-large herders. The 75 cm sphere is too large for an Aussie to fit its jaw around, which is the safety mechanism that lets the ball survive sustained, high-drive play. A bigger ball also delivers more "thrill" — it bounces further when nudged hard, mimicking the movement of livestock that triggers the herding instinct.
Breeds that fit the 75 cm CollieBall:
- Australian Shepherd (standard size)
- Australian Kelpie
- Staffordshire Bull Terrier (active, well-conditioned)
- English Staffordshire Bull Terrier
- Border Collie (large individuals over 50 cm at the withers)
- Australian Shepherd × Border Collie crosses
- Golden Retriever, Labrador, Boxer
- Siberian Husky
How to confirm 75 cm is the right size: measure your dog from the withers to the ground. The 75 cm CollieBall suits dogs 51–62 cm at the withers and 23–34 kg. Breed counts as much as the tape measure — some dogs are heavier or stockier than their height suggests and need a size up. For a better selection, use the "Find your dog's size" button on the store page — it opens a visual size guide with the same breakdown plus measurement diagrams. When it's close, size up.
A note on Staffies and Kelpies: both are shorter than the 51–62 cm band suggests, but both are far stronger than their measurements — the 75 cm denies the jaw any purchase, so the toy lasts. Staffies aren't herding dogs, but they share the trait that makes CollieBall a good fit for herders: a powerful jaw that destroys most regular toys. Supervise closely with very strong-jawed individuals.
If your dog is a German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois or Rottweiler, go straight to the 95 cm — these breeds routinely defeat the 75 cm.
